Week 10

Progress summary for Week 10 (July 27-August 2, 2026) of the AGL Bluetooth Integration project.

Week 10 focused on updating the Bluetooth pairing Gerrit change after review feedback and aligning the homescreen dependency setup with the published bluez_native package.

Progress#

1. Updated the Gerrit Change#

Updated the Bluetooth pairing and connection Gerrit change for the Flutter ICS homescreen. The review is still open, but the latest patch set keeps the change moving by addressing dependency and documentation feedback.

2. Updated the Bluetooth Dependency#

Updated the homescreen integration to use the published bluez_native 0.3.1 package. I also added compatible overrides for the current Flutter SDK:

  • code_assets 1.1.0
  • hooks 2.0.2

These overrides keep the package resolution compatible while the homescreen change is reviewed against the available Flutter toolchain.

3. Reviewed Feedback#

Reviewed the feedback shared for the Bluetooth pairing and connection Gerrit change, then used it to draft the follow-up items for the review.

The review items are:

  • Respond to BlueZ cancel and release agent requests so remote devices do not stay stuck waiting for a pairing response.
  • Handle missing or stale target devices in the switch-device pairing flow and still answer the agent request.
  • Recheck the error-display flag, scan discovery cleanup, pairing-code helper, dialog sizing, lock file changes, and Dart SDK version bump as lower-priority review cleanup.

Goals#

The GSoC goals are to focus on Bluetooth media support first, especially the audio player controls and playback state. After that, the work will move to the hands-free phone profile, then contact access. Message access is a lower-priority stretch goal and will be handled only after the primary audio, phone, and contacts work is in good shape.

Continue responding to Gerrit feedback, keep the dependency setup aligned with the published bluez_native package, and prepare for the midterm evaluation window.
